Privacy Policy

Colors of English, Inc. ("Colors of English," "we," "us," or "our") runs colorsofenglish.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect only what we need to run our website, our store, and the Word Bird Sentence Lab, and we never sell or share your information with anyone for their own marketing.
1. Information you give us
Free resources sign-up: your first name, email address, your role (for example, teacher or parent), and whether you want emails when we post new free resources.
Contact form: your name and email address, and, if you choose, your phone number, school or organization, occupation, and message.
Sentence Lab Beta application and surveys: your name, email address, school or district (optional), the grades you teach, your role, the materials you use now, how confident you feel teaching sentence structure, and your survey answers.
Store purchases: your name, email address, billing and shipping addresses, and order details. Payments are processed by Wix and its payment providers. We never see or store your full card number.
Site accounts and the Sentence Lab: when you create a member account, your name and login email. For the Sentence Lab, we also keep a record of your plan and how many sentences you have analyzed, so we can apply plan limits.
Sentence Sense quiz: your answers and score are recorded anonymously, with no name or email, to help us improve the quiz. If you ask us to email your results, we use your email address only to send them, and we keep a scrambled (hashed) version for a short time to prevent abuse.

2. Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our site, which is hosted by Wix, uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember your cart and login, and understand overall site traffic. You can set your cookie preferences in the cookie banner and in your browser. We do not run advertising trackers.
Our forms use Google reCAPTCHA to block spam. Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply to that service.
3. The Sentence Lab and AI
The Sentence Lab uses Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, to color-code, analyze, and diagram sentences. When you submit a sentence, the text of that sentence is sent to Anthropic to produce the analysis. We send only the sentence, never your name or email address. Anthropic processes these sentences for us under its Commercial Terms of Service, which do not allow Anthropic to train its AI models on the content we send.
Finished analyses are saved in our shared sentence library, so the same sentence can be shown again quickly, to you or to other teachers, without being analyzed again. For that reason, please do not include students’ names or any other personal information in the sentences you enter.
4. How we use information
To answer your questions and requests.
To process orders, deliver digital downloads, and ship physical products.
To run member accounts and the Sentence Lab, including plan limits.
To send emails you asked for, such as your free-resources welcome email, order confirmations, and, if you opted in, news about new free resources.
To run the Sentence Lab Beta, including its surveys.
To improve our website, materials, and tools, and to prevent spam and abuse.
To meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
5. How we share information
We never sell or rent your information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. We share information only with the service providers that help us run Colors of English, and only as needed for them to do that work:
Wix, which hosts our website and provides our forms, store, checkout, member accounts, and email.
Payment processors, which handle card payments at checkout.
Shipping carriers, for physical orders.
Anthropic, which receives the text of Sentence Lab sentences only (see section 3).
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a sale or reorganization of our business, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information.
6. Children
Our website is meant for adults: teachers, parents, tutors, and school staff. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Teachers who use the Sentence Lab with their classes should not enter students’ personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Your choices
Emails: unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email from us.
Your information: to see, correct, or delete the information we have about you, email info@colorsofenglish.com.
Sentence Lab: you can cancel your subscription at any time (see our Terms of Use).
Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights. We will honor requests as required by the laws that apply to you.
8. Keeping information safe, and for how long
We rely on Wix’s security measures and take reasonable steps to protect your information. We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, for example while your account is active or as long as we must keep order records for tax purposes, and then delete it. Anonymous quiz results contain no personal information and may be kept longer.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the effective date. If the changes are significant, we will let you know on the website or by email.
