Terms of Use

These terms apply to colorsofenglish.com and to everything you buy or use through it, including our printed and digital materials and the Word Bird Sentence Lab. The site is run by Colors of English, Inc. ("Colors of English," "we," "us," or "our"). By using the site or making a purchase, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
1. Using our website
Please use the site lawfully and give us accurate information. Do not try to break, overload, or get around the security of the site, and do not copy content from it in bulk by automated means.
2. Accounts
If you create an account, keep your login private and do not share it. Each account is for one person. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us right away at info@colorsofenglish.com if you think someone else has used it.
3. Our materials and your license
Everything on this site and in our products, including the Word Birds and their names, stories, and illustrations, our lesson plans, workbooks, teacher’s guides, slideshows, posters, and the Sentence Lab, belongs to Colors of English, Inc. and is protected by copyright and trademark law.
Single-teacher license. Each digital purchase is a license for one teaching adult: a classroom teacher, homeschool parent, or tutor. You may use, print, and project the materials with your own students, and you may post student handouts to a password-protected class site (such as Google Classroom or Canvas) for your own students. Please do not forward links or files to other teachers, post materials publicly, or upload them to a shared drive or teacher marketplace. Teaching with colleagues or a whole school? Free downloads are for the same personal classroom or home use. If you want to share them, please share a link to our website rather than the files.
Printed materials: buying a printed book does not give you the right to copy it.
4. Orders, prices, and payment
Prices are in U.S. dollars and may change at any time; the price shown at checkout is the price you pay, plus any applicable tax and shipping. Payment is processed securely through our Wix checkout. We may cancel an order if a product was listed at the wrong price or is unavailable, and we will refund anything you paid for it.
5. Shipping and delivery
Physical products ship within the time shown on each product page. We currently ship to addresses in the United States. For shipping outside the U.S., please contact us at info@colorsofenglish.com. Digital products are delivered by email right after purchase.
6. Returns and refunds
Digital downloads: because digital files are delivered instantly, all sales are final. If a file will not open, a link does not work, or you bought the wrong item by mistake, contact us within 30 days and we will fix it, replace it, or otherwise make it right.
Physical products: unused items in their original condition may be returned within 30 days of delivery for a refund of the item price. Return shipping is your responsibility, unless the item arrived damaged or we sent the wrong item, in which case we will replace it at no cost to you.

7. The Word Bird Sentence Lab
Plans and renewal. The annual plan costs $50 a year and renews automatically each year until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from My Subscriptions in your account, or by emailing us. Canceling stops the next renewal, and you keep access until the end of the year you paid for.
30-day money-back guarantee. If you are not happy with the Sentence Lab, email us within 30 days of your purchase and we will refund it in full.
Limits. The annual plan includes up to 25 new sentences a day and 100 new sentences a month. Sentences that are already in our library do not count toward these limits. The free trial includes 10 sentences in total, and every sentence counts toward those 10, including library sentences.
Beta. Approved Beta testers get free access through June 30, 2027, with up to 50 new sentences a month, in exchange for honest feedback, including a short survey at the start and end of the Beta. We may close Beta enrollment or change Beta access at any time. Beta access ends automatically after June 30, 2027.
AI-generated results. The Sentence Lab uses artificial intelligence. We work hard to make its color-coding, analyses, and diagrams accurate, but they can contain mistakes. Please review the results before you use them with students, and rely on your own professional judgment.
Your sentences. You keep any rights you have in the sentences you enter. You give us permission to process them, to save the results in our shared sentence library, and to show those results to other Sentence Lab users. Do not enter personal information, confidential material, or text you do not have the right to use. We may block sentences that are not appropriate for a classroom.
Fair use. Do not share your login, use automated tools to submit sentences, or resell the Sentence Lab or its results as a service.
Changes. We may update the Sentence Lab’s features and limits. If we change the price of the annual plan, the new price applies only from your next renewal, and we will tell you before it takes effect.
8. Professional development
Professional development services are scheduled and priced separately. The details in your agreement or invoice with us apply to those services.
9. Disclaimers
Our website, materials, and tools are provided "as is." We stand behind our work, but we cannot promise particular results for every student or classroom. Research findings and results from past programs that we describe on the site are examples, not guarantees.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Colors of English, Inc. is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, our materials, or the Sentence Lab, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
11. Links to other websites
Our site may link to other websites, such as research articles. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the effective date. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
