This 130-page student workbook teaches sentence diagramming through the story of a young ballplayer and a championship game. It covers simple sentences only — but simple sentences are not always short or simple. Each unit (nouns, verbs, pronouns, adjectives, possessives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, interjections, and verbals) begins with clear definitions and baseball examples. Students build their expertise with each part of speech by returning to a single story, unit after unit. They also write and diagram their own sentences, which grow more complex as their knowledge grows. The book ends with a final in which students identify every word in the story. Includes the 40-page Teacher Answer Key.
